Potash Companies Down on Higher Crop Inventories

San Francisco Chronicle reported that shares of potash companies were down on US crop inventory data. As quoted in the market news: Potash Corp., the world’s largest fertilizer producer by market value, fell as much as 4.3 percent before closing 35 cents lower at $43.45. Merger Rumours hit Potash Market

Dmitri Rybolovlev’s recent sale of 53.2 percent of Uralkai stock to an investors group, led by Mr. Kerminov, has led to rumours of a significant merger in the potash industry. About $11 billion of fertilizer and agricultural-chemicals mergers and acquisitions have been announced or completed since the end of 2008.
