A takeover battle involving three North American fertilizer companies grew more heated yesterday, when CF Industries Inc. rejected a hostile bid by Calgary’s Agrium Inc.
Agrium CEO Mike Wilson said:
We’re deeply disappointed that CF’s board of directors has rejected Agrium’s proposal without even attempting to engage us in exploratory discussions,” noting that “we remain fully committed to acquiring CF.
